The Network of Teachers, Researchers and Researchers in Computer Science of Faso (RECIF), in collaboration with the Aube Nouvelle University, the Laboratory of Discrete Mathematics and Computer Science (LAMDI), the various universities of Burkina, the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation and the Ministry for the Development of the Digital Economy and Posts is organizing the 5th edition of the Computer Science Research Days on 24 to 26 Novembre 2022.

The theme of these days is «contribution of research in computer science to the development of the private sector»

These days will provide a framework for exchanges between teacher-researchers, experts, engineers, companies, computer science students in Burkina Faso on the various issues of computer science research in connection with technological innovations and the digital economy for sustainable development.

These days will offer a view on innovative solutions and methods on computer research activities carried out in Burkina Faso and impacting all sectors of activity.

I- CONTEXT AND JUSTIFICATION

The digital transformation that Burkina Faso is witnessing inevitably demonstrates the importance of considering the digital sector as one of the essential levers for socio-economic development and the country’s structural transformation. IT can be a springboard for the development of socio-economic sectors in Burkina Faso like countries like Kenya, Ethiopia or Rwanda. In this respect, training and quality research in computer science are essential to have national expertise in the field to provide innovative solutions to major concerns of growth and development in Burkina Faso.

The computer science research structures consist of three laboratories at Nazi BONI University, Joseph KI-ZERBO University and Norbert ZONGO University which have computer science research teams.

How can computer research and technological innovations constitute a strong potential for growth and development for countries like Burkina Faso? This is the current concern of the Network of Teachers-Researchers and Researchers in Computer Science of Faso, which intends to reflect on this issue during this fourth edition of the Computer Science Research Days (JRI 2022).

Also, the digital environment and the use of certain technologies raise new issues in terms of security, data protection and privacy. Growing vulnerabilities and security breaches are reported daily in the news. How can these security issues be taken into account in the design and implementation of innovative solutions for sustainable development?

The data is processed and used in various specific or cross-cutting applications in different socio-economic sectors. They can predict certain trends and improve decision making. How to rely on the applications of big data to contribute to the economic and social development of Burkina Faso?

These days will therefore make it possible to reflect on the use of technologies on big data, in particular taking into account the security dimension in all technological solutions and innovations, in particular vulnerabilities related to technological tools as well as security mechanisms and policies. .

II- OBJECTIVE OF THE DAYS

The overall objective of the Computer Science Research Days (JRI 2022) is to constitute a framework for exchange and reflection between the various players in the digital field, in particular teacher-researchers, researchers, doctoral students, students and structures of the digital ecosystem around emerging themes and innovative solutions for the development of a real digital economy

. Students will also present innovative solutions for visibility of their results.

It is more specifically:

  • to motivate, encourage and support computer research in order to provide innovative solutions to major development issues taking into account the real needs of the populations;
  • to work for the establishment of collaborations on federating and multidisciplinary themes
  • to stimulate innovations through emerging technologies and data;
  • to foster University / Business collaboration around innovative research projects for the economy;
